Fibromyalgia/Chronic
Pain
This severe impairment
is characterized by fatigue; pain in the muscles,
tendons, and ligamanets; swelling; exacerbating by
weather or activity or stress; poor sleep; headaches;
irritable bowel; numbness in hands or feet; anxiety and
depression.
This condition may
arise from an injury or seem to begin almost
spontaneously. It can be associated with other conditions
such as arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, Lyme disase,
or other illness. It is identified by certain signs and
symptoms. It is not progressive and does not damage or
deform joints nor does it include inflammation. It is
recognized by tenderness in 11 of 18 triggerpoints or
specific points in the body. There is disrupted and
disturbed sleep. Most sufferers have mood changes,
headaches, abdominal pains, alternating constipation and
diarrhea, urinary urgency, senstivity to temperature,
tingling over the body. A rheumatologist is the

Help can be found from
reducing stress, getting out in the sunlight, sleeping
when you can as much as you can, massage helps, many
forms of therapy both physical and counselling can help,
heat or cold packs may offer comfort, rest. Most
important, be kind to yourself. The kinder and gentler
you are with yourself, the sooner you may begin to
improve.
